Research and Access

Our Services

Access to the Morris County Park Commission’s collection (which includes photographs, archival material and objects) by the general public is available by appointment only.  Anyone interested in accessing the collection must place their request in writing and be approved in advance by a member of the Collections staff.  Written requests should include the name of the user, contact information, the purpose of their research, and any professional affiliations.
This collection does not circulate, and all material must be used in designated areas.  An appropriate member of the Morris County Park Commission staff will be present to assist with research and help insure best practices are used when accessing the collection.  Guidelines for Use will be provided by a staff member.
For patrons unable to visit our sites, we will answer specific queries by mail or email.
Photographs, negatives, glass slides, color transparencies, and color slides owned by the MCPC may be reproduced by students, authors and other persons pursuing research for historic or scholarly works.

A $25 per hour fee will be charged to all non-academic research and access requests.
This fee includes up to 15 photocopies and/or low resolution scans.
Any additional photocopies and/or scans will be charged according to the Morris County Park Commission’s current fee schedule.
Fees for all academic requests, which includes research for high school/higher education classes or for publication by educational faculty members to professional journals, will include access for the first hour free, and additional time will be charged at the $25 per hour rate.  All photocopies/low resolution scans will be charged according to the Park Commission’s current fee schedule.
