White-tailed deer management

The Morris County Park Commission is currently responsible for the stewardship of over 18,000 acres of land. It recognizes that a controlled hunting program is the most efficent and affective way available to minimize the severe threats posed to the biodiversity of native flora and fauna by overabundant ehite-tailed deer populations. The MCPC's controlled hunts are specifically used as a population management tool and do not represent recreational hunting opportunities.

Closures

Due to inclement weather, the following Parks are closed: (please check back for updates)

NOTICE - Silas Condict County Park:

The Park Commission is continuing the rehabilitation of Canty’s Lake dam at Silas Condict County Park.
To facilitate construction, the lake was lowered in 2017for the project, which is expected to be completed in February 2018.  There will also be heavy construction in the area around the dam embankment.
Fishing, boating, and the Casino will be closed for the duration of the project.

The Park and hiking trails will be open to the public during regular park hours of operation. Hikers are advised to avoid the project area which will be protected by safety fencing.
