White-tailed deer management

The Morris County Park Commission is currently responsible for the stewardship of over 18,000 acres of land. It recognizes that a controlled hunting program is the most efficent and affective way available to minimize the severe threats posed to the biodiversity of native flora and fauna by overabundant ehite-tailed deer populations. The MCPC's controlled hunts are specifically used as a population management tool and do not represent recreational hunting opportunities.

Please visit our newest playground at Central Park of Morris County.
A new Loantaka Brook Reservation playground coming in 2019.

The Saturn Playground located by the Doe Meadow picnic area is closed.

UPDATE - Silas Condict County Park
The Park Commission has finished major construction of Canty’s Lake dam at Silas Condict County Park. The dam structure is complete and the lake has been recovering since September 2017.  The return to normal lake level will be entirely dependent on precipitation trends.  When lake levels have sufficiently recovered, NJ Fish & Wildlife will restock the lake with game fish.

Final grading and earthwork remains to be completed so hikers are advised to still avoid the dam area. The dam area will be restored and will include a new pedestrian bridge over the dam offering a scenic overlook of the lake and surrounding area.

The Park and hiking trails will be open to the public during regular park hours of operation. Hikers are advised to avoid the project area which will be protected by safety fencing.
